At first glance, this trailer doesn't really look like it's doing all that much different. The actress is well-versed in comedy, but watching her scrunch up her face in a sneer is oddly charming. It's frankly unexpected to see the relentlessly optimistic star of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt suddenly play somebody on the less than straight and narrow.

Some of the chaos is funny as Kemper and Delaney do their best with the physical comedy, but apart from a delightfully surreal gag about a VR helmet, the pratfalls lack the cartoonishly demented imagination of the original films. It’s not quite as faithful to the source material, but the Muppets cast is terrific in the various smaller character roles. This CGI motion capture animated movie stars Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge. Carrey also voices and animates the roles of Scrooge’s three Christmas ghosts, who take him on his time travel journey so he can rediscover his soul. Some people might not like the “uncanny valley” efforts to create realistic humans in CGI, but the movie itself is a faithful and entertaining adaptation of Charles Dickens’ story. Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and Robin Wright also provide voices and motion capture for other roles in the film. In response to Culkin's video, Daniel Stern appeared in a short video reprising his role as Marv, released in conjunction with Stern's Reddit AMA, where he pleads for Harry to return to help protect him against Kevin's traps.
Chris Farley auditioned for the role of the Santa Claus impersonator, but he failed to impress Columbus. Home Alone was initially set to be financed and distributed by Warner Bros. Hughes promised that he could make the movie for less than $10 million, considerably less than most feature film production budgets of that era.
Harry and Marv break in, spring the traps, and suffer various injuries. While Harry and Marv pursue Kevin around the house, he calls the police and lures the duo into a vacant neighboring house which they had previously broken into. Harry and Marv ambush Kevin and prepare to get their revenge, but Marley intervenes and knocks them unconscious with his snow shovel.
